No escaping the snow, Anthy-Sur-Léman, France
Zagan the motorhome hasn’t moved today and isn’t planning on. He’s still in the free aire at Anthy-Sur-Léman on the shores of Lake Geneva/Lac Léman (N46.35884 E6.42183). Our plan to come here to defrost hasn’t entirely worked.
Foolishly, we figured being here by the lake we’d be away from the white stuff as the weather forecast predicted rain. It was right for a few hours, the rain and warmer temperatures were enough to enable us to dislodge a thick layer of ice on our solar panel, but this has now been replaced by a few inches of snow. It started this morning and shows no signs of letting up for a couple of days as a storm crosses this area of France.
The local snowplough (adapted JCB) has been past a couple of times, while we sit wrapped in sleeping bags with hot drinks watching the big fat flakes fall. Some of the locals are driving about as if there isn’t any snow (winter tyres?), others have spun their way past, no signs of chains….yet.
We’ve checked the internet and the whole area is getting a dumping, so there’s no point in moving. The maps have been out to plan a route out when it does clear up, so we’re just relaxing and having a ‘day off’. We have full tanks of gas, plenty of diesel if we need to run the engine to charge the batteries, a fridge loaded with food and it’s Friday afternoon, so there’s only one thing to do; crack open a bottle of red to help keep out the cold – yes, I did say bottle, not brik!!
Have a great weekend.

Looks great, can’t wait until I can start my wandering
Then only 2 more bottle to go and get the corks from and put them under you wipers to keep them off the glass then they will not freeze to the windscreen.
Working on it Robert!
All I can say is brrrrrrr….. So pleased you are doing all this and we can benefit by knowing what to expect if and when the time comes. Thanks! Take care and stay warm!
Best,
Robina
REQUEST:Could we please have a picture of the pair of you in deck-chairs in the snow :-)
Haha! We’re out of the snow at the moment, but might well be persuaded to pose when we come across some more of the stuff!
hi, me again, any chance you can let me know the make of the little white Room Thermometer? egg timer?…Pics looks cosy and snug with nice snow views..pondering where you both can explore next.
Exclusive Marcus, very hard to get. Or just head to IKEA mate! Any thoughts on where to head appreciated, we’re just bouncing around down here.

Jeff
For me I would go to Interlaken, Switzerland which is around 130 miles from where you are now…then liechtenstein again another 130 miles from Interlaken then onwards to Neuschwanstein Castle another 100 miles

Try the local bar!!!
Tempting. Made do with our in-van selection of chocolate liquors. :)
thanks for that I just bought: ‘IKEA KLOCKIS Clock/Thermometer/Alarm/Timer, White’ by Ikea
Welcome to the warm world of the thermometer watcher!
Surely a bottle is going a tad to far ..was it over € 1-50 if so what a treat ..enjoy dear friend and I dont envy the chill..we hopefully will avoid the white stuff as we have till the 29th to set off south to Gozo ..
Don’t blame you Susan! Got an hour of sun today and it’s 12 degrees, so pure luxury. As was that bottle of wine, €2.50! Nice it was though.
