just giving page for British Lung Foundation

Readers : We Need Your help!

It’s time to admit it. We know we’ve been a little odd lately. Our posts have become less about motorhome touring and increasingly about running. We’re sorry about that if it’s not your thing, but there is a really good reason for it.

What are we doing?

In case you don’t know, Jay and I are trying to raise £1000 for the British Lung Foundation. The charity has been amazing, their local community group Breathe Easy has helped Jay’s Dad who has Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease COPD after many years working in the coal mines.

We could think of no better way to raise the money than by putting our lungs to use and running up a huge mountain! That’s why we’re doing a lot of running lately.

It’s now just two weeks until I tackle the Zermatt Half Marathon (my knee is holding up well). The run is just your normal 21 kilometres (13.1 miles) long half marathon, but it takes place at altitude. It starts in the Swiss village of Zermatt at an altitude of 1608 metres, and goes up to 2585 metres above sea level – the highest altitude marathon finish line in Europe.

Jay will be tackling the Zermatt Ultra Marathon which is 45.5 kilometres long (about 28 miles) but finishes even higher up among the glaciers of Gornergrat at 3089 metres above sea level.

How can you help us?

I’ll cut to the chase, we’re trying to get £1000 for the British Lung Foundation but, you don’t have to dig deep.

If every person reading this post donated just a £1, we’d completely smash our target.

Over the years the OurTour blog has grown and grown. We’ve loved writing our adventures as well as hints and tips on all things motorhome and financial freedom, however it does all take time. The adverts on the blog are there to cover its costs – url, hosting, back-ups etc, but we don’t get paid for the time we put into it.

So, if you’ve read our blog and found it useful, stopped at a place we’ve recommended or found your way to financial freedom with our help. Please could you spend a couple of minutes of your time and log onto our justgiving page and donate a little thank you. It would be very, very gratefully received.

And finally

You might think by looking at our blog that the training we’ve been doing is all lovely and glamorous with scenic views. I put together this short video on one such run the other day to show how it really is.

Thanks for reading this, and sorry once more for all the running stuff. Normal motorhome service (with a little bit of running fun) will resume shortly.

Cheers Ju x
