‘Perfect View’ Safeguard Calendar Competition

A while back we spotted that Safeguard Insurance were running a calendar competition. They wanted folks to send in their ‘perfect view’ from their motorhome adventures. Judges, TV legend from my childhood, Michaela Strachan and Daniel Attwood, Head of Content at MMM magazine, would choose their favourite photos which would be put together into a calendar to raise money for homelessness charity Shelter. How could we resist?

As you can probably guess, we’ve taken thousands of photos on our tours and sorting through them is still on my ‘to do’ list – as we took over 6,000 in Norway alone, it’s a long way down my list! So, I thought back to places we’d enjoyed, found a few possible ones and sent them in. This week they got in touch to say that three of our photos had been chosen to be included!

Needless to say, we’re a bit gobsmacked, but really chuffed that our images have been chosen for the calendar, especially as the competition was so tough. Our friends Joanne and Craig from OurBumble.com also had two of their photos included in the calendar and won overall so another of their images will be on the cover. If you haven’t visited their blog, you really should as they do take cracking photos on their trips.

We’ll receive a couple of copies of the calendar as our prize, so we’ll have one pride of place at home and the other we’ll send to Piglet who is the star of one of our images.

So keep snapping away on your adventures, you never know where your photos might end up, or who they’ll end up helping.

Hi Robert. Joanne and Craig don’t tend to blog when they are at home, but if you follow them on Facebook they are still putting the odd cracking photo on there.

    Hello!
I found your site by accident and it has made very interesting reading, thanks! We also live in Nottingham and after 13 years living and cruising on our boat then barge in France, Belgium, Holland, Spain etc., we tried to be sensible and bought a house. Didn’t last long (being sensible) and now we have a motorhome. As Janet my wife still can’t swim, probably a safer option. I would love to know what you think about Brexit and the possible implications for ‘free movement’. Also could I ask if you have a solar panel on board. Can’t decide if it is a cost effective option or whether we should just do it for environmental concerns.
    Thanks and best wishes
    Malcolm

Hi Malcolm (or should I say ‘ay up me duck’?)
Great to hear from you. Ah yes, good old Brexit. So many unanswered questions at the moment, but Jay tried to pull together a round up a while ago (and I don’t think there has been much clarification to date), so this is a good place to start – https://ourtour.co.uk/home/the-death-of-the-year-long-motorhome-tour-of-europe/

With regards to the solar panel, yes we have one on the roof which feeds into our two leisure batteries. With this set up we can stay in one place without hook up for ages, so while they are expensive to fit for the way we travel (minimal campsites) they are a great investment.
      Cheers Julie
