A chilly head for a good cause – please help.
This is a change from our usual updates as I’m asking for something back from you, but it is for a very good cause.
Through my part time business helping people save money, I met a wonderful lady called Karen Williams. Karen is the founder of the Live Love Laugh Foundation, a registered charity (no. 1164916) raising money to provide Buddy Bags for children going into emergency care.
Imagine if your whole world changed in a day. Imagine having to leave everything you own and everyone you know. This happens to 48,000 children in the UK every year. Children fleeing violent situations often have to leave home quickly, without the chance to collect basic items, arriving in emergency accommodation with just the clothes they are wearing.
A Buddy Bag is a backpack that contains all the essential items a child needs as they go into emergency care. Tailored to suit babies and children according to age groups and gender, they include toiletries, pyjamas, socks and underwear. They also include comfort items such as a book, a photo frame and a teddy bear.
Each bag costs £25 and I want to raise enough money to provide bags for 20 children. Here’s how I need you to help me.
I’m having my head shaved to raise money for the charity, and as a reader of this blog you’ll all get to laugh at the state of me over the coming months as we travel through snowy, cold mountains and get bitten by mosquitoes in Scandinavia before my hair grows back. So please, please, please forgo that pint/Lidl brik of wine tonight and donate whatever you can help give a child something to call their own at a terrible time.
It’s really easy to donate, just click on this link to go to my fundraising page – www.gofund.me/r2z7vyzf.
I have no idea what my head will look like without hair, but hopefully it won’t be quite a bad as this…
Not convinced to donate yet?
Each bag contains a postcard that the child can fill in and send back to the Live Love Laugh Foundation. Reading this postcard made me decide to do something to raise money to help other children have a teddy to comfort them.
If you, or someone or company you know, might be able to provide items to go into the Buddy Bags, or can give their time or anything else amazing to help, please get in touch with Karen at the Live Love Laugh foundation.
Thank you to everyone who donates no matter how little, it will all help.
