We keep a track of all of our spending as we’re going along and here we’ve broken it down by country, so you can see what we’ve spent to give you an idea of how cheap\/expensive a place can be. We stopped back in the UK for a couple of weeks for an MOT, and here are our costs there so you can compare to other places.<\/p>\n

As the UK uses the Pound and not the Euro, the costs above are in Euro to make it easier to compare with other countries. We’ve assumed the \u00a31 was worth around \u20ac1.18 during the time we were there.<\/div>\n

* Dave came back for a full service and MOT which, along with a few repairs, cost \u00a3530.32 – this isn’t shown in the costs above as it’s a yearly cost along with our annual travel and motor insurance.  We also bought a new camera while we were back and sold our old one, the costs of both of these are not shown above.<\/div>\n

We stopped with various relatives the whole time we were back in the UK and when we visited friends we slept in Dave on their street or a quiet one nearby, so we had no overnight costs. Our costs were mainly high due to the ferry, the high price of diesel in the UK (we made sure our tank was full on arrival and empty on departure), the costs of topping up phones before setting off and eating out with family and friends. Finally before we left we did a big supermarket shop for all those British essentials that you can’t get overseas!<\/div>\n
