Wild camping is only tolerated in a few areas of The Netherlands and since the aires book we were using was written a few of the free parking places now have no motorhome signs on them (which is how we found ourselves with a couple of very nice armed customs guards in our van one morning!).<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Being a land with a lot of water many marinas have set aside parking areas for motorhomes. An agreement might have been reached between them all as the cost seemed to be \u20ac10 no matter where it was or what facilities it had – although some of them had really good loos and showers as they were there for use by the boat owners too!<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
We arrived with a fairly empty fuel tank after a tip off the diesel was cheaper in The Netherlands than Germany and it was, as was LPG which was available at pretty much every fuel station.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
We found that the supermarkets (ie Lidl) were slightly more expensive than in Germany, but did have a really good bread selection. If you want to buy strong alcohol you’ll need to go to an off licence as you can’t get anything stronger than Port or Sherry at the supermarkets.<\/div>\n
