With no oven? Huzzah!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Each and every member of Team Zagan likes a biscuit or eight, and normally we procure our hefty biccy-stash from one of Europe&#8217;s finest Lidl stores for only a nominal&nbsp;fee.&nbsp;At the moment though, we&#8217;re in Norway, and Norway doesn&#8217;t do Lidl. No, instead Norway charges for biscuits like they&#8217;re made from diamond-encrusted gold nuggets, you need to call your&nbsp;bank each time you buy them to ensure enough funds are available in the international banking system.<\/p>\n<p>As we have no oven in our Hymer B544, surely this would savage our budget like a boz-eyed hammerhead shark, forcing us back home for another ten year&#8217;s hard labour (clicking about in&nbsp;Microsoft Office)?<\/p>\n<p>But no! We found another way. Here follows our motorhome recipe for the no-oven flapjack-biscuit-cake-thing, which can be made with a single gas burner and a non-stick pan, and the smallest dollop of patience. Give &#8217;em a try, unless you have a Lidl nearby, then just go buy theirs (we love their choc chip cookies, they&#8217;re epic).<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><b>Ingredients<\/b><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">These quantities make about 12 decent-sized biscuit-things:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">100g butter<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">100g flour<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">100g sugar (brown or white &#8211; try either)<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">100g rolled oats<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Two tablespoons of honey or golden syrup\/light syrup in Norway (depending on what you can get or what tastes best)<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Optional to taste: dried coconut, raisins, choc chips, cinnamon, whatever you like! Be careful not to add too much of these or you might not be able to get the biscuit-things to stay in one piece<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_23440\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23440\" class=\"wp-image-23440 size-large\" title=\"motorhome recipe - no-oven flapjack cake things\" src=\"https:\/\/ourtourmedia.s3.eu-central-003.backblazeb2.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_20160823_162650925_HDR-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"motorhome recipe - no-oven flapjack cake things\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ourtourmedia.s3.eu-central-003.backblazeb2.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_20160823_162650925_HDR.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ourtourmedia.s3.eu-central-003.backblazeb2.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_20160823_162650925_HDR-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ourtourmedia.s3.eu-central-003.backblazeb2.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_20160823_162650925_HDR-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-23440\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lozenge-shaped biscuits just starting to cook<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Melt&nbsp;the butter in a pan, stir in the sugar and honey\/syrup, take care lest you burn the mix!<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Hand mix the melted concoction in a bowl with the oats, flour and whatever other ingredients-to-taste you choose<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Avoid eating all of the mix, OK, maybe just a teeny bit, chef&#8217;s privelege<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Melt a bit of butter in the pan to help stop the biccies sticking<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Keep the pan heat medium-low (and use a diffuser if you have one). I&#8217;ve tried it hot, and just ended up burning the&nbsp;lot<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Use two spoons to create &#8216;lozenge&#8217; shaped biscuits and drop them into the pan<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Use a spatula to flatten and shape the biscuits, keep doing this as they cook<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">After a few minutes, carefully flip each biscuit over<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Keep using the spatula to maintain their shape, they&#8217;ll stay a bit flexible even after they&#8217;ve cooled<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">After a few more minutes, lift each biscuit onto a plate\/cooling rack and allow to cool;&nbsp;pop &#8217;em in the fridge to firm &#8217;em up a bit more<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Scoff, gleefully!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Let us know if you come up with any variations on these &#8211; especially if you can find a way to make &#8217;em just that bit healthier!<\/p>\n<p>Cheers, Jay<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our motorhome recipe for no-oven flapjack-biscuit-cake-thing is made on the hob.
