I was on a motorhome Facebook group yesterday and someone asked about motorhome towels, or rather more specifically how do you dry towels in a motorhome because theirs were stinking up the place. That brought back memories. I popped a comment replying to their question with a link to this blog post which I wrote back in July 2017. That was when I discovered the perfect motorhome towel a micro-towel towel. It’s now almost four years later and I still say these are the best thing for motorhomes (we still have the same ones, so we now know they last well too).<\/p>\n

I thought I’d dig out the post and re-share if you because there are loads of folks out there new to motorhome life and stocking up their vans for their first adventure. Hopefully it will stop their van stinking too!<\/p>\n

The Perfect Motorhome Towel<\/h2>\n

I had was sick of damp and wet towels hanging around drying and stinking up our motorhome, so I set about find a solution to this problem. It lead me to the perfect motorhome towel!<\/p>\n

Normal household towels aren’t great in the van as they take ages to dry. This means you end up with damp towels hung up which start to smell fusty after a while. I tried a micro-fibre towel, but I didn’t like the feel of it on my skin, it never felt dry. However, the micro-fibre towel dried so much faster than the normal towels, so it got used for drying my hair after a shower.<\/p>\n

When we were back in the UK gearing up for a trip to the Alps, I was looking for a new ski jacket and spotted micro-towelling towels<\/a>\"\" in Mountain Warehouse. They have the same quick dry properties of the micro-fibre towel, but feel like a proper towel, and they’re lighter, which is always a bonus in the van.<\/p>\n

\"TheHoping they were as good as they looked, I bought a couple to try. After six weeks of use, and a few laundry washes, we think they’re great. UPDATE – We’ve now used these as our motorhome towel for over five years. One is starting to hole slightly in one place, which is easily repairable, but otherwise they are still working well.<\/p>\n

They dry quickly, so they don’t get chance to smell fusty. The only downside we’ve found is that you can’t tumble dry them. This isn’t really a problem as we only tumble dry when we have to – ie winter or cold places. When we weren’t able to dry on the line, I’d simply remove the towels from the washing as I loaded the tumble dryer. Back at the van, I’d hang them up in the bathroom using extra loops I’ve sewn onto them for easy hanging and suction hooks so they can hang across the width of the bathroom, and even without the heating on they’re dry in a few hours – not bad from being soaking wet.<\/p>\n

When writing this article I discovered that the towels were much cheaper from Amazon than direct from Mountain Warehouse. So I’d certainly recommend you grab a couple ahead of your next trip and banish fusty towels from motorhome too!<\/p>\n
