For diesel we paid between \u20ac1.63 – \u20ac1.70, but you could pay a lot more if you didn’t chose the self service pumps. Prices also changed throughout the day and week, weekends seeming to be the cheapest. LPG was widely available costing just over \u20ac0.80 a litre.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
If there were any Sostas (Italian Aires) on the south coast we didn’t see them! There were a few campsites, but they were mainly closed so we free camped everywhere and emptied our loo in public toilets where we could find them. As we came up the heel of Italy’s boot, things got more motorhome friendly, with some places having paid motorhome parking and a few places providing services.<\/div>\n

We found eating out expensive throughout Italy, so we mainly ate our main meal in the van and had snacks (pizza or a panini) and ice cream when we were out. The few times we did eat out the food was good, if not great. We mainly shopped at Lidl, but they don’t take either visa or mastercard so we always had to ensure we had enough cash on hand to pay for our trolly full.<\/div>\n

We loved the area around the heel of Italy, but are sad to report that the sole of the boot has little to offer, so we blasted across it as you’ll see from our daily mileage. Our souvenirs budget was blown at Decathlon when Jay got himself a much longed for wet suit, which has been very well used in Greece!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
