Hi guys, sorry, sorry, the list grew to over 500 people and our host stopped sending some of the emails as a result. We bought some software to work around the problem, but it hasn’t worked and I’ve been trying to find out why not ever since. I have an open ticket with the host and we’re working together to fix it, but it all takes time. We’ll get the emails started again as soon as we can, apologies for the inconvenience. Cheers, thanks for the message, Jay

Sorry to hear you are having hosting issues. I note that the website is really really slow today taking several seconds to load each page. The emails (or lack of) are not an issue now as I just check the website every day to see what is new! If you want any help with hosting let me know – I am sure we can work something out. We run our own servers (LAMP with WHM/cPanel)and these are quite lightly loaded. We run our own blogs on here along with all our clients’ websites. I would be honoured to host the Our Tour blog. We aim to always at least 50% spare capacity. Everything on our sites is backed up every night and we hold 7 daily backups, 2 weekly backups and 2 monthly backups. I do not mean to make a sales pitch but I would truly be interested in helping out here.

      Hi Tim

Thanks for the offer. The blog’s big now, and I’m loathe to move it simply due to the sheer scale of the job. Hundreds of posts and thousands of photos, I think it’s in the region of 20GB. Any thoughts on how we could mov the thing smoothly?

      Cheers, Jason

Cheers guys, the mopchop date is set for 25 Jan! Just as the weather’s turning cold, and a few days before we get into the Alps. :-) Radio Nottingham have just been in touch, so we’re off to get interviewed next Monday, hopefully generate even more wonga for the nippers! Cheers, Jay

      Hi Chris

Zagan is good, thanks! Temp gauge fixed, cam belt done, full service done. Freezer door hinge fixed. LED lights and two new tyres on order. Not cheap, but expected and budgeted for ready for a long stretch out on t’road. :-)

Alternator belt is still squealing when we start him up though, so may need to ask garage to have a look again.

Kipped in him last night visiting friends, heating kept us toasty warm as the world outside froze. He’s back in storage now waiting for the tyres to arrive, then we need to give the poor thing a good clean out, the carpets need cleaning. The table needs varnishing too, forgot about that.

The post is just a page with a graphic on it. I wonder if your browser isn’t showing the full sized image? Might be worth trying to click on it to see if you get the full image up?

      Cheers! Jay

About Zagan’s altrnator belt… Our Belgian Beauty is a Hymer too and we also have a squealing alternator belt, at least when we start the engine… We were told by a Volvo dealer/ mechanic that belts of the manufacturer “Gates” always do that. Our belt is not the original Hymer belt anymore.
As for the post, I have tried to click on it but no result … On my husband’s tablet it works ok. Mine is an ipad … I am not always happy with it!

Hi Ju & Jay, We toured for 5 months last year in a VW t5 LWB,its now up for sale as it was too small (we found we liked the idea of being able to stand up). We have now bought a new fiat ducato for this years 6 monther. On last years trip we met some Americans (very alternative) who advised us to use maps.me. Its good, you download whichever countries map and you’ve got it even when off line. You can search for ALDI or ATM’s or whatever. Hope you find this useful. Nearly forgot, to save gas usage when wild we put 2×2 ltr water bottles frozen solid in the fridge, these will keep for at least 2 days just don’t open the fridge too often
Keep up the blogs they are what started us off. Safe travels Ellen & Jim

Cracking, thanks for the tips guys. We’re planning on getting the mapping software as soon as we see free Wi-Fi. Greetings from the sunny (woo hoo) Alps. Jay
